Seasonal Bargain Hunts

If you’ve been around True Money Saver for any amount of time then you should’ve learned that everything will go on sale…eventually. That means there’s a ton of potential for buying what you want at a lower price. Exciting, right?!

You probably already know that spring and summer items will go on sale in June and July. I mean it makes sense that these sales make room for all the new fall and winter items that the store will be filled with soon.

And winter items will start going on sale in January after the holidays have ended.

Since most people aren’t buying in January because they are broke from their holiday spending, the demand is low, making prices go low too.

You can take advantage of this and be the best seasonal bargain hunter ever, by saving up some of your Christmas money (or plan for it and save up ahead of time) so you know to purchase when that price is so much lower.

Essentially this concept is buying after the typical season has ended.

Hunting Ahead Of The Season

Before we hop into the Month-By-Month deals you’ll find throughout the year, we need to talk about the strategy of the “hunt”.

Most people don’t think ahead, which leaves the deals to the real bargain hunters.

Who would think of buying a snowblower in July? Those who know they’ll need one and are looking for a deal!

If you can buy winter weather gear at rock bottom prices in January and February, then why wouldn’t you?!

See how the strategy works? You’re shopping out of order. Shopping when you can get the best deal knowing you’ll need it later, instead of being at the mercy of the stores when you are desperate for the item.

You’re buying ahead for something you’ll need in the future because you can get it cheaper today instead of when it’s typically in season.

For my family, I always looked for larger sizes in kid clothes and shoes that were “out of season” so that I would have the clothes they needed on hand and could pay wayyyy less than the usual “in season” prices.

It’s these holiday sales ideas that will save you money all year long.

Digital Bargain Hunting & Research

When you are looking for the best holiday deals, start your price comparisons ASAP. They say it pays to shop around and it’s true!

These are all the resources I use to hunt down bargain deals using my computer instead of going to multiple stores.

Check out CamelCamelCamel for Amazon shopping. This gives you the lowest, current, and highest price that an item has been on sale for on Amazon, as well as, a 3rd party comparison. It’s interesting to know how low an item has gone before so you can try to snatch up a deal when you see it. It also helps so that you don’t get robbed.

PriceGrabber and GoggleShopping list several sites so you can compare prices before you purchase an item.

Don’t forget to check for deals before you checkout. Can you add any coupons? Are there coupon codes that you missed? What about free shipping? Make sure you have checked for those extra savings before you click the checkout button.

The Honey browser extension can add some great savings to your sales during the holidays. It can help you even find those coupon codes to help you save more.

Did you know you could be saving more with rebates? You can! Rakuten is another site that will save you money by giving a portion of the sales back to you.

Set deal alerts on Brad’s Deals so you can find out when an item goes on sale. Neat, huh?!

Coupon Sherpa also has coupon codes that can help you save money.

Looking for a specific store? Check out RetailMeNot for tons of coupon codes and deals to help you bargain hunt. (PRO TIP: I keep this app on my phone and look up coupon codes while I’m shopping anywhere… from restaurants to clothing stores)

Lastly, don’t forget to sign up for your favorite store’s email promotions to get notifications on sales and extra coupons too! Plus, download the store app to get even more deals and coupons (I use this strategy every time I shop for craft supplies)
