For years I’d set lofty goals every month that never moved the needle in our finances. Things like “pay off debt” and “spend less on groceries” and while I had good intentions, I was missing the point: my goals were not specific enough to measure progress each day. So month after month I’d write the same goals down… hoping that one day, I’d actually accomplish them. Then one day I discovered I just needed to rewrite my goals, in smaller increments. Aha! That was the key. Smaller goals, broken down into even smaller daily steps so I could make intentional progress on them. Finally, things started to move in the right direction.
