Cleaning is one of those tasks we all know we need to do, but no one wants to step up to the plate to get it done. When it comes to cleaning, you don’t need to make it an all-day event! In fact, you could probably clean your entire home in just a few hours or even less.

This series will not only teach you how to speed clean every single room in your house but how to do it efficiently, so you don’t miss a spot! Here are some helpful tips to help you spring clean every room in your home.

Keep All Of Your Supplies Together

One of the secrets to a successful spring clean is to have all of your cleaning supplies all in one easy to access place. You can separate your supplies by room, or have one caddy that will work for each room in your home. When it finally comes time to clean, you won’t have to search and hunt down the supplies you need.

In addition to creating a place to hold all of your cleaning supplies, make it even easier on yourself by keeping all the supplies you need in each room!

Play Some Music Or Listen To A Great Book

Cleaning your home is hardly a reason to celebrate, but turning on some music or playing an audiobook while you’re cleaning can change how efficiently and quickly you clean. Make sure to pick something high energy or motivational (if you’re listening to a book). Not only will this encourage you to move quicker throughout your home, but it will make it more fun. Don’t be afraid to bust out some dance moves if you feel like it.

Start With Your Least Favorite Room

In this series, we’ve broken down the cleaning tasks by room to help you work through each room one step at a time. When you are starting your speed clean, make sure to start with the room you like cleaning the least. Once you have finished cleaning the least enjoyable, the rest won’t seem so bad.

If this area is particularly difficult or tedious, it will give you a sense of accomplishment and keep you motivated to keep going. If you have a room that is going to take more work, try and start with this room first.

Don’t Clean For The Sake Of Cleaning

This might sound a little weird, but don’t waste time cleaning clean things. If your fridge was just emptied out or is spotless already, don’t clean it! Don’t give yourself more work than you have to. Focus on the rooms with the most foot traffic and work backward to clean most efficiently.

Don’t Overdo It With The Cleaners

When you are trying to deep clean, it can be a habit to use as much cleaner as you can reasonably get on the surface. When trying to clean, this can backfire in a big way! More soap or cleaner on the surface can damage it or even leave residue behind. Be patient with some of your cleaners, and read the bottle to make sure that you are using it effectively. Many cleaners need time to do their dirty work and will require several minutes of setting, not scrubbing.

Work From The Top To The Bottom

When cleaning a room, you want to start at the top and work your way down. This will help you avoid knocking dust or cleaner on an already clear surface. If you do the top and have already cleaned something below it, you are just knocking all of the dirt and dust onto your already cleaned surface.

Don’t Forget To Put Your Supplies Away When Finished

This one might sound silly, but after cleaning, we forget to put things back where they belong! Don’t allow your room to have clutter that doesn’t belong, enjoy the clean space and put your cleaning supplies back where they belong when you are finished.

Cleaning your home doesn’t have to be hard, remember that this isn’t in any order! Start with the room you feel needs the most work, and move on from there. If you don’t have a garage or one of the rooms listed, skip it! If you just cleaned a room very recently, skip it! Don’t create more work for yourself than you have to!
