Walmart Savings Catcher Program

~ WALMART SAVINGS CATCHER PROGRAM ~

Savings Catcher is an online tool that automatically compares prices of select products purchased at Walmart with advertised prices of competitors in your area.

Essentially, this program takes the burden off the cashier’s to have to price match at the time of checkout and instead customers receive their savings back in the form of a Walmart eGift card. Thinking of it as a “reward” program, such as you see at the drug stores or with gift card deals at Target. After that first initial out of pocket trip (when you receive the savings back on a gift card 72 hours later), then you can use the gift card towards your purchase, so you essentially, always have an ongoing credit.

Here’s how it works:

Shop at any Walmart Store and save your receipt.
Go online to Walmart.com (obviously you will need an account) and enter your receipt number and date of shopping trip.
Savings Catcher will look at applicable competitor Advertisements and credit your account with the difference within 72 hours (in an eGift Card that can be used online or in store).

Step-by-step how the Walmart Savings Catcher works:

Create a Walmart.com account online.
Shop at any Walmart store and save your receipt.
Go to www.walmart.com/savingscatcher (you can download the Walmart App by going to the link from your Smartphone).
Enter the receipt number located near the bottom of your Walmart receipt.
Enter the date of your shopping trip.
Savings Catcher looks at the eligible items purchased at Walmart and then compares the price paid to the advertised prices in the weekly print ads of major local retailers.
If Savings Catcher finds an advertised price that is lower than what was paid for the same exact item at Walmart, customers will receive a Walmart eGift Card for the difference.

If you get an “Invalid” message… just wait a little longer to submit. The receipt has not uploaded to the program yet, sometimes it needs 24 hours to process things.

Some things to pay attention to:

You ONLY HAVE 6 full days to enter your receipt into the Walmart Savings Catcher program. For example, if you shopped on Tuesday, you have until the following Monday to submit your receipt (I scan mine before I leave the parking lot so that I don’t forget).
Walmart Savings Catcher will choose the competitors in your area to compare prices (**NEW** As of 2/15/15, they will no longer compare to Drug Stores).
Walmart Savings Catcher will choose the products to compare in your area.
Only advertised sale prices are compared, not regular prices of competing stores.
Some types of promotions are NOT included in Savings Catcher:
- Advertised items with no price listed
- Items requiring a separate purchase to get the advertised price (i.e. Buy cereal, get milk for $2)
- Items requiring a purchase to get a gift card
- Going out of business/closeout prices or percentage off prices
- Store brands, deli, bakery and weighed items such as meat
- Also excludes online merchants such as Amazon and store brand items
- Excludes Buy One Get One free (BOGO) deals where no price is listed for individual items (i.e. Peter Pan Peanut Butter, buy one, get one free. Save up to $2.50.)
- Savings Catcher will match Buy One Get One free (BOGO) deals where no “item price” is listed at the “Save Up to” price (example: Peter Pan Peanut Butter, buy one, get one free. Save up to $2.50.” will be compared as follows: Walmart Price $3.00, Competitor BOGO Save up to $2.50, you would get back $0.50”)
Savings Catcher will take up to 72 hours to compare prices and credit your account.
You can submit up to 7 receipts per week to Savings Catcher.
You can accumulate your savings and have it transferred to a Walmart eGift Card.
There is an Annual Maximum. You can earn a maximum of $599.99 Reward Dollars per calendar year. (This value represents your total earnings, irrespective of whether or not you have transferred your Reward Dollars to an eGift Card.) If you’re close to this limit and submit a receipt, you’ll be issued a partial amount so as not to exceed the annual maximum. For example, if you have already earned $598 in Savings Catcher Reward Dollars, and then submit a receipt for which you should be issued $2.50, only $1.99 will be issued.
