Did you catch our Savings Segment this morning on Fox? We are honored to be a featured on Good Day Tampa Bay each Sunday to share our knowledge about coupons and how to get the most for your money! This week’s topic was all about some Apps that will put money back in your pocket!
You always hear “there’s an App for that”. And within the coupon world there are several Apps that will save you money – if you know how to use them properly! These “digital coupons” function more like a rebate. All are listed in blue on our store lists because they function more like a rebate vs a normal coupon. They are extra savings on top of any store or manufacturer coupons you can use when buying the product. You link up your bank account, or PayPal account, and transfer the money there (which can then be moved to your personal checking account).
Here’s how they work specifically:
- Ibotta – Pronounced “I Bought A”… is a FREE Android (Google Play) or Apple iPhone App, is easy way to earn real money just for buying your favorite products. Earn money by learning about products (by taking polls, reading facts or watching short videos). Get your money within hours of taking a photo of your receipt. It’s real cash. Earnings can be transferred securely to your PayPal account or donated to any school in America with the click of a button. Ibotta updates their offers every 4 days. - Checkout 51 – A FREE app for iPhone and Android. Buy products from any store, then take a photo of your receipt in order to redeem the deal. Once you accumulate $20 you will be mailed a check. Offers are updated every Thursday. One benefit I like about this App is that it regularly offers rebates on generic fresh products, such as Bananas and Milk. Because there’s no brand specified, it makes it easy for me to qualify for the one my family purchases regularly and earn an easy rebate! Read more about Checkout 51 here.
- Shopmium – FREE App for iPhone and Android. Features new offers each week. Offers are exclusive to Shopmium. No store constraints: you can redeem your offers at any store where the product is sold. Very easy cash back process: rebates are processed within the app in just 2 clicks! You don’t even have to wait until you get to a certain level of rebates to “cash out” and each rebate will be sent to your PayPal account immediately upon verification! - SavingStar – An Online tool as well as a FREE Digital App for Apple or Android. After creating an account, link your store Reward Cards (CVS, Winn Dixie, Rite Aid, Kroger, Harris Teeter, etc), Select the eCoupons/Offers you want to use, then shop at your local store using your loyalty card when you check out. Money accumulates into your SavingStar account and at $5 you can “cash out” to transfer the balance to your PayPal account or get Gift Cards for Amazon. This program differs from the others in that it has “threshold” offers. Such as “Save $5.00 when you spend $25.00 on any of this certain product,” right now Febreeze items are part of the promotion. A Requirement For Use – you must have a PayPal account in order to get your money out of these Apps (except Checkout 51, but I bet that will change in the near future). PayPal is an easy way to send and receive money and it is linked to your personal checking account. If you are skeptical, set up a secondary checking account and link it to that. It will act like a bonus savings account!
Extra Savings on Top of Coupons – You can still use store coupons as well as manufacturer coupons at checkout because these do not interfere with the process.
Basically, with Digital Rebate Apps, the savings are paid back to you at a later time, not immediately when you checkout. It essentially works like a rebate without the bother of addressing an envelope or needing a stamp. Your total will not change at checkout. What a great — and easy — way to save!
