Fox 13 LogoDid you catch our Savings Segment this morning on Fox?  We are honored to be a featured on Good Day Tampa Bay each Sunday to share our knowledge about coupons and how to get the most for your money!  This week’s topic was all about Digital Coupons!

Here is a little more information for you:

  1. Get an Account ~ You’ll need a personal online account with each of the specific stores to select the coupons you think you will use. Select as many coupons any you’d like because there is no limit and you never know what you will need in the future!
  2. Do Not Double Up ~ eCoupons cannot be used in conjunction with another manufacturer coupon (the paper coupons that come in the Sunday newspaper). They CAN, however, be used along with a Store Coupon. You only get ONE digital coupon per item. So it will not take a coupon off of more than one item… just that first one.
  3. How they Work ~ You access the digital coupons by either scanning your store reward card or simply entering your phone number at the checkout counter. Publix, Winn Dixie and Walgreen’s all have digital coupon programs:
  • To use them at Publix, you need to sign up for an account and link it to your phone number. Then at the checkout counter, just enter your telephone number like you would enter your pin to use your debit card.
  • At Winn Dixie and Walgreens, after you log into their websites, you assign the coupons to your card, and when you use that loyalty card at the store, it will deduct the amount immediately.
  1. Things To Consider ~ The confusing part is when you think about buying 1 item and you have one paper coupon and one digital coupon. What do you use? Well, digital coupons are Manufacturer coupons. Manufacturer coupons CANNOT be used in conjunction with another manufacturer coupon. So only ONE coupon can be used on that item, or to use both, you need to purchase another item. Remember though, if you have a store coupon, then it can be used along with either the paper or digital coupon. What about BOGO’s?? You can still only use ONE coupon per item, which means you can use the paper coupon on the “Buy One” and the digital coupon will automatically come off of the “Get One”.
  2. Do They Expire?  Yes! The coupons have an expiration date just like their paper counterparts. The easy thing is that if they expire before you get to use them, they just disappear from your account. That can also be a negative because you think you have one in there, and it is gone.
  3. The Bottom Line ~ Digital Coupon Programs deduct the savings when you checkout.  That is always better than a rebate you receive later. Ultimately, if you already use coupons, think of them as a single bonus coupon you would not have had otherwise. I have found that when I am missing a coupon…or I want to purchase “just one more” of something…they come in very handy. It’s especially helpful for non-couponers who are not prepared with paper coupons already.

Basically, with the ease of no scissors, nor the need to purchase and sort newspapers on Sundays, one would think these “eCoupons” (or electronic coupons) are a fabulous option. And they ARE…but there are some confusing factors surrounding these little gems. And we want you to be best informed of all your options! Sure hope this helps clarify for you!

~Happy Digital Couponing!
