This is one spray bottle you will want to always have filled with the essential oils for colds and flu inside so you can combat the germs and make sure no one else in your family gets sick.
It is a spray I’ve been using for years every time one of us gets the sniffles.
With a family of 6, it’s tough to make sure that any sickness that enters our home stay contained with that one person and doesn’t spread to anyone else.
With this special formula, which includes essential oils for colds and flu, you’ll be amazed at how quickly the sickness goes away as well as the fact that it doesn’t spread. That’s a huge #momwin.

It’s amazing how much money you can save simply by making things yourself.
Do you have 3 minutes? Because that’s all the time it’s gonna take you to get these supplies out and make a bottle of miracle cold and flu room spray. You can whip up a batch in seconds.
Ingredients & Supplies:
- 1/2 Cup Rubbing Alcohol (or Witch hazel if you’d prefer)
- 1 1/2 Cup Distilled or Reverse Osmosis Water
- 12 Drops Specific Essential Oils for Colds and Flu (I use the Young Living brand because of their purity promise)
Some good essential oil choices to combat cold and flu season are Eucalypus, Tea Tree (Melaleuca), Cinnamon or Lavender or a mixture of oils from Young Living, called “Thieves.”
For this recipe I used 4 drops Eucalyptus, 4 drops Lavender and 4 drops Thieves.
In a spray bottle, add the 1/2 cup Alcohol, then essentials oils followed by the 1 1/2 cup water.
It will cloud up and that’s how you know it’s all combined together.
The cloudiness does not go away because the mixture stays combined. I don’t usually need to shake it before each use, but it won’t hurt anything if you do.
What Does It Cost?
- 1/2 Cup Rubbing Alcohol = 32¢
- 1 1/2 Cup Water = FREE
- 12 Drops Essential Oils = price varies (I use the Young Living brand because of their purity promise)
Total Cost = 32¢ for 16 oz of room spray that will keep you from getting sick!
Note: This does not cover the cost of the spray bottle or the essential oils used.
You can see how easy it is to make this room spray, so why chance everyone catching a cold when someone brings it home to your house?
I spray this bad boy everywhere because it is fast drying and dissipates quickly. I spray it on beds, sheets and blankets as well as in the air of the entire room. I also spray it on the sofa and anywhere that our sick patient has been lounging around.
I also use this disinfecting spray on door knobs, light switches and surface areas to ensure those are clean so that we don’t further infect anyone with any potential virus.
And it’s super fast to make. I love mix and go recipes. They are my favorite.
