7/9/19 Update: This cheat sheet has not been updated for 2019.

The second week of July through the last week of August is the season for back-to-school shopping and it’s during these 4-6 weeks that we see the absolute lowest price on almost every school and office supply imaginable.

That means that it is important to not only stock up for back to school but also to stockpile these expensive office supply items that you are going to use later in the year.

Think about it this way: you can get Elmer’s Glue for 50¢ right now (at Walmart) or you can spend $2 on it later when you run out. It’s totally up to you.

For that same $2, you could buy 4 (for 50¢ each), have 2 on hand and donate 2 for a Back-To-School Drive!

I love Back To School shopping! However, regardless of when you buy Office or School Supplies, you need to make sure you’re not paying too much. And since you’ll find the lowest prices on school supplies in July and August every year. During those months, you should buy enough to last the entire school year!

But that got me thinking… where is the absolute VERY BEST DEAL?

Every Black Friday I create a Price Comparison Cheat Sheet that compares similar items across multiple stores in order to help you determine where you want to shop most.

So I decided to do that same Price Comparison for School Supplies too!

I took the most popular School Supply items (just over 50 of them) and compared the prices at Target, Walmart, Staples, Office Max and Office Depot. Plus I also included the Regular Price and then the Stock Up Price so you will know FOR SURE if you are getting a good deal… not just a “it’s on sale so it must be a good deal, deal”.

Hopefully, this will make you Back To School Shopping even easier this year.

Here are a couple of things you need to know about this cheat sheet:

  • Pricing could vary by area. Staples, Office Depot and Office Max pricing should be fairly consistent nationwide, but Walmart and Target prices may be slightly different depending on your location.
  • The last few weeks of the season Walgreens is my absolute favorite place to stock up on Dry Erase Markers, Sheet Protectors and Tab Dividers. I could not include them in this list because it is only a one week sale whereas the other prices are good for the whole season.
