This past week, I chatted with Daytime TV to talk about Fall Savings! Since my Nanny is visiting us from MD to celebrate her 90th birthday, I brought her along! Daytime was kind enough to surprise us and put her on TV too!! In case you missed it, here are some tips {and the Video} from the show…
- Cash in on the Summer Clearance – The Couponing concept is to buy products needs when they are at the lowest price and “stock up” to last until they go on sale again. That means in August, when school supplies are at their lowest, you are buying enough to last throughout the year. Right now keep an eye out for those wonderful bargains available because summer is over and stores need to get rid of those items. You can score some really good deals right now!
- Get Ready for Baking Sales – Fall is the best time to buy baking supplies because they are plentiful at their stock up prices. In the coming weeks products such as Flour, Sugar, and Oil will be at prices so low you will want to stock up for the entire Holiday baking season. Yes, lasting into the New Year! Start looking at your favorite holiday recipes to gauge how much you will need and determine how much to stock up on right NOW.
- Utilize Meal Planning – Eating out is an easy way to spend more than you think. Try writing down what you eat every day…then use that to plan the same meals over the coming weeks. I like to plan using my method of cooking. One night per week is a crock pot meal, one night is chicken, one is fish etc. Then I just mix that up weekly. Thinking about what you are cooking the week before will save you a ton of money! Don't forget to make more than enough so you can freeze extra for a bonus lunch!
- Get Fun Fall Projects from Pinterest – Want a great fall activity to do with the kids? Pinterest has tons of ideas for re-using items you already have on hand to make adorable Fall decorating items for your house, and you will save money doing so! Ever heard of FaveCrafts? They are a huge resource for craft ideas (and FREE downloadable Craft eBooks) too!
- Start Thinking about Christmas – I know it seems early. But now is good time to get a beam on your Christmas budget. Gather together any gifts you already purchased and make your list of who you still need to buy for. Then keep your eyes peeled for sales ahead of time so that when the season comes you can relax, enjoy and are not forced to spend unnecessarily! The best savings is to buy in the “off” season. And that is right now!
~Happy Fall Savings!
