How to Land the Best Deals on Black FridayBlack Friday is easily the best shopping day of the year. Even though the stores are packed, many people save lots of money on their holiday shopping by partaking in the sales. After years of participating in this crazy fun holiday, I’ve listed below only the BEST Black Friday Shopping Strategies.

1. Do your research before the big day.

Use this weekend to look and compare your favorite store ads. Just like any shopping trip, you will get the biggest bang for your buck by researching before you leave home. Check out all the popular store Black Friday Ad Scans right from our handy grid!

2. Avoid trying to get all the deals.

There are lots of stores offering great sales on Black Friday, making it impossible for you to get every deal you are after. Once you have a list of the ones you really want, prioritize them in order or value, desire, or ease of obtaining. Shoot for no more than 2-3 at each store, so you can be sure to get the ones you really have your heart set on.

3. Plan your method of attack.

With the deals you want on your mind, decide how you will shop on Black Friday. Will you begin Thursday night? How many stores will you shop that day? Consider store opening times, and stagger your shopping if possible. That way, you can be to each store and get the items you really want before heading home. Remember, stores typically only carry 15-20 of the “Doorbuster” crazy deal items. So if you are not there within 30 mins of that stores opening, do not plan on scoring that deal. {tip: you go to one store, have a friend go to another store and then keep in constant contact for deals you both want!}

4. Arrive at stores early.

There will be lots of lines on Black Friday. Make sure you are at the top stores on your list at least two hours early. You should dress warm, bring a bottled water or snack, and wear comfortable shoes. It will be worth it if you land the best deals you hoped for!

5. Have sales ads on hand for price matching.

Many retailers will price match a better deal found at other stores, but only if you have a physical copy of the ad for them to see. Make sure you pack these ads in your bag on Black Friday, so you don’t miss out on the lowest price. View our “Black Friday Survival Kit” of items you MUST bring along for Black Friday success!

6. Don’t forget to shop online too!

Sometimes, you can snag a better Black Friday deal on the internet than you can in store. This will, of course, depend on what you are shopping for on the big day. Many online sales begin at 5pm or even earlier on Thanksgiving. Make sure you don’t pass these up or you may be letting that great deal slip away!

7. Don’t stray too far from the list.

It can be tempting to get in the store and buy several more things you didn’t plan on. However, this is what destroys your budget! If you see something that you overlooked in the ads, and you think it’s a tremendous deal, or it will replace an item you weren’t able to find, get it. On the other hand, if it’s more of an impulse buy, give yourself time to think about it before you check out. {sometimes a friend can help to keep you accountable for this too!}
