As a Homeschool Family, when we go on vacation, we take total advantage of exploring the area and visiting landmarks!

As a child, one summer, my parents took our family to see all the antique stores up the eastern coast of the US. At the time, I thought it was just sheer torture . But today I see the value in learning about our heritage and culture through browsing the antiques inside those stores.

Plus there is just something about sitting in a rocking chair on a southern porch, sipping a soda from an old fashioned glass bottle that can’t be replicated at a Cracker Barrel on I-95.

Have you ever heard of the FREE Travel Guides website?

It is a website with various brochures for almost every state (none listed for DE…it WAS the first state you know). I ordered one for every state we will be traveling through in the coming month when we hit the road for Family Vacation time (we are driving from FL up to MD to visit family).

Two of the brochures I was interested in I could download instantly: Gatlinburg and Kissimmee. I figured, at the very least, the kids can read them while we are traveling through that state, and when we are all done, it can be used as a memento in their scrapbooks from the trip!

There were NO gimmicks with this site…just click the state for which you want to order the guide (some states are divided by various areas…for example, for FL, one option was Kissimmee), then check off the brochures to add them to your “Cart”, then enter your name and address info to have the brochures mailed to your home. I received the confirmation email and it said they would arrive in 2-3 weeks.

**One Tip** You might want to do both, download them to look at, and then also order them snail mail, because they are BEAUTIFUL and 64 pages are a lot to print!!
