Twelve years ago today our country was attacked by terrorists.
Lives were lost. Heroes were born.
Our country pulled together in the aftermath.
We can do a few things NOW, to make a difference!
In honor of the tragic September 11, 2001 and the lives lost, we can do something tangible this September 11 to bring the life-giving word of Christ to people around the world. Will you consider partnering with missions in some way today, perhaps by donating some items in your stockpile, or praying for 11 missionaries today or even donating $11 on September 11? There is something each of us can do.
Bell Shoals Baptist Church (Kati’s home church) is sending a group of her friends (the Peifer, Richardson & Gibbons Families) to Haiti in October. Their team will be led by RTS Missions (Love Haiti Missions Project). They will be serving in an orphanage and various schools during the day (reaching approximately 400+ children) and ministering in the local neighborhood in the evening. The team is planning to hand out small bags of school supplies to each child. They are collecting the following items: Composition Books, Pencils, Crayons, Manual small pencil sharpeners, Erasers (rectangular pink ones), Pens (for the teachers), and Chalk (for the teachers). They are also collecting jump ropes and soccer balls for outside activities. Maybe you have some extra of these items on hand at your home that you could drop off at Kati’s church and help them reach the kids in Haiti! Read more about the Love Haiti Missions Project on the RTS website.
Please meet Melisha’s friend, Jaime Lawhorne.
Jaime is a 21 year old student at UCF who will be graduating soon with a degree in Public Administration and Nonprofit Management. She is currently doing an internship at Melisha’s church, Eastpoint Fellowship. She is also preparing for an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries called The World Race.
Jaime by nature is a very quiet, shy person. She is also kind and has such a loving heart. Melisha has personally seen God transform this shy, quiet girl into a beautiful, confident woman who has been called to share the love of Christ. Jaime has gone on two mission trips with our church to Romania. It was on her first trip there that she felt God calling her to missions and to the World Race. You can read more about Jaime on her World Race Blog, and if you would like to partner with her you can donate to Jaime’s World Race Mission trip.
