Hunsader Farms down in Bradenton FL will be closing their Fields soon for U-Pick which allows you to pick 25 Pounds of Tomatoes for only $2! You can also pick the green tomatoes (great for frying)!! (Ask first as this may have changed. Thanks Sherri!)That's our son Beier, last year when we picked (6) 5-Gal Buckets)
The U-Pick hours are Monday thru Saturday 8:00 am-3:45 pm.
This only goes on for a few weeks, and last year they charged $5 for the same amount of tomatoes! In a couple weeks, they will close for the summer and then re-open the end of September.
They also have a couple other crops for u-pick vegetables that run $0.79/lb or $10 for a half bushel (green beans etc)
I go every year to pick these Tomatoes…they are delicious!! We also go to this same farm when Fall rolls around (in October), to “get lost” in the Corn Maze! It's a fun place!! {Mommy warning: they have ice cream on site.}
25 pounds of tomatoes is the size of a 5 Gallon Bucket. There is a limit of (15) 5-Gal Buckets per person. I would suggest that you bring some kind of bucket/bag but they do have bags on hand to lend (and always bring a hat and water).
