Amazon Prime Day is a 48 hour epic day of deals. We’re talking better than Black Friday deals. Amazon really delivers by putting over 100,000 on sale (it’s INSANE).

You need to be a Prime Member to get these special deals (if you aren’t a already prime member, sign up today for your 30 day FREE trial of Amazon Prime and you can test it out for this 2-day epic sale).

This post gives you an overall strategy to get the most out of Prime Day deals to help you score fantastic deals for your family… regardless of what you purchase!

When you’re done reading this post, don’t forget to see the best deals

Get Prime (Don’t Worry, You Can Try It For FREE, or only $12.99)

Usually I suggest this tip closer to Black Friday to use during mid-November to Mid-December. But if you aren’t already a Prime member, then you can try Prime for FREE for 30 days and have access to all the Prime Day deals first hand with your own account.

If you know right now that you don’t want to pay to be a Prime member, then set an alarm on your phone RIGHT NOW to cancel Prime in 2 weeks (yes, you have 30 days, but why wait until the last minute?).

In case you already used the Free Trial, then you can join Amazon Prime for one month for $12.99 and then cancel. That’s a cheap way to take advantage of all the Prime Day Deals while not having the long-term commitment of a year long membership. With one shipment, you’ll more than make up for the $12.99 cost for the month.

If you are a College Student (or have one living in your house), then you can get a 6-Month trial of Amazon Prime for FREE! Plus, after the 6-month trial period is over, then you’ll get Prime for half off the annual price.

1. How To Find The Best Deals (And Get A FREE $10)

During Prime Day, which “officially” begins at 12:00 AM PST, Monday July 15th, Amazon will be offering thousands of deals from TV’s to Baby Wipes. Some will be all-day deals, while others will only be available for a few hours. Those time-sensitive sales, called “Lightning Deals,” go live every few minutes throughout the day.

One way to make things easier? Download the Amazon app (Bonus: You get $10 FREE when you sign in and another $10 bonus after you place your first in-app purchase) on your phone and look through upcoming deals for the categories you’re interested in. You can also add the Amazon Assistant browser extension (Bonus: You get $10 Off Your $50 Order) to the browser on your computer and you’ll be notified when the sale goes live on there too.

If you add a deal to your ‘watching’ list, you’ll get a notice through the Amazon app when that deal is about to go live.

Once you see the deal go live, it’s a good idea to hit “add to cart” immediately. You’ll have a few minutes to either complete your purchase or remove the item from your cart.

Some items sell out in seconds which means you’ll need to put yourself on the “waitlist” in case someone who claimed the deal before you decided to pass on it after a little thought.

Get the Amazon Assistant Browser Extension here (Bonus: $10 Off your $50 order).

Get the Amazon App here. (Bonus: You get $10 FREE when you sign in and another $10 FREE after you place your first order)

2. Get $10 FREE By Shopping At Whole Foods (Or Prime Now)

Now that Amazon owns Whole Foods, they include them in Prime Day! Woohoo!

The most important thing you need to do TODAY is shop at Whole Foods and make a single purchase of at least $10 at any Whole Foods Market store. Make sure to scan the Prime code or use your linked mobile number at checkout in-store before TONIGHT at 11:59 PM PST 7/14/19.

IMPORTANT: You must make a $10 purchase before 11:59 p.m. PST 7/14/2019. Otherwise you will lose your $10.

A $10 Credit will appear in your Amazon account to be used towards any purchase on Prime Day.

NOTE: You must USE the $10 Credit ON Prime Day. It expires at midnight on Wednesday 7/16/19.

In addition to the $10 credit, Amazon is also offering an additional 10% off sale items at Whole Foods stores ON Prime Day (all day Monday 7/15/19 to 11:59 pm EST 7/16/19).

Finally, for anyone using the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card you’ll get double the rewards on Whole Foods purchases (up to $400).

3. Prime Day Deals To Watch For

Tons of things go on sale during Prime Day, it’s hard to keep up without sitting at your computer the entire day. According to Amazon, these are the categories and products with the best deals this year:

  • Toys – There should be big discounts on major toy brands such as LEGO, Crayola and Star Wars. Amazon has also said there will be “exciting launches exclusive to Prime members”.
  • Amazon Devices – Amazon gives major discounts on their own devices such as Alexa, Echo, Echo Dot, Fire Tables and and Fire TV. Watch for deep discounts on these things over the course of the 2-Day Sale.
  • Kitchen Items – In 2018 we saw some major discounts on Instant Pots and other kitchen tools (waffle maker anyone?) That means if you’ve been wanting a kitchen item such as an air fryer or new larger crock pot, you’ll want to add those items to your “watching list” so that Amazon alerts you when a sale goes live.
  • Video Games – Amazon has hinted that there will be deals on the PS4, Xbox, and the Nintendo Switch. I’ve already seen the sneak peek on deals for gaming headsets. Make sure you load any gaming items you want into your “watching” list so you’ll be notified of the sale when it goes live.
  • School Supplies – There’s some fierce competition for Back To School shopping. Amazon wants to be your buying destination with deals on Backpacks, school supplies, clothing and more.

Deals will start rolling out from this page.

4. Is it Truly A Deal?

Have you ever used the website, CamelCamelCamel.com?

It is a price watcher website that you can use to verify if prices are ACTUALLY really good (it shows previous prices).

It even has a browser extension that you can add to Chrome or Firefox and with the click of a button you can see if the item you are looking at is truly a good deal.

I’ll be watching (and comparing prices) inside the Prime Pantry area because they have promoted that some “Essential Items” will be up to 30% Off, so I’ll be watching for Paper Towels and Toilet Paper deals!

5. More FREE Amazon Money

Amazon is offering multiple coupons for Prime Day to help you try out the other services they have available with some FREE Money.

$10 FREE CREDITS FOR USING PRIME NOW OR SHOPPING AT WHOLE FOODS

And yes, you can load your gift card and then use it immediately to pay. SCORE!

FREE $5 CREDIT FOR CHOOSING LONGER SHIPPING

This is something Amazon regularly offers its Prime members, but it’s worth mentioning here so that you watch for the deal. When you choose to forego your 2-Day shipping option and opt to receive your items later, they will give you between $1- $5 credit towards another service. Keep an eye out for your free money!

YOUR TURN: Tell me in the comments if you plan on participating in Prime Day? What are you keeping your eyes on?
