Fox 13 LogoDid you catch our Savings Segment this morning on Fox 13?  We are honored to be a featured on Good Day Tampa Bay each Sunday to share our knowledge about coupons and how to get the most for your money!  This week’s topic was all about some Summertime FREEbies, and the NEW Wags coupon policy!

Fox 6-8-14 Summer SavingsHere is a little more information for you:

Summertime FREEbies:

  • FREE Movies ~ Starting THIS week, you can already get in outta the heat by taking the kids to the movies for FREE (or super cheap!) Movie theaters play slightly dated movies weekly over the summer for FREE or a reduced price. They also usually have discounted theater snacks! All the movies are rated PG or G, so they make a great time for the entire family. Movies are usually on Tuesday or Wednesday and start at 10am. Go HERE to see the individual Movie list.
  • FREE Bowling ~ Get a little indoor exercise over the summer with a few games of bowling! Two bowling programs exist for summer fun! The first is called Kids Bowl Free! Every day through the end of August, kids (15 years and younger) can bowl for FREE! Sound too good to be true?  It’s not!  Just register your children and you’ll receive your first coupons via email within 24 hours for 2 FREE games per child, per day.  Then, every Sunday you’ll receive weekly coupons all summer long.  Go HERE to register with KidsBowlFree. AMF Bowling Centers have the same kind of kids’ program for 3 games per day. So what about the adults??? They have programs for you, too! For either $35 or $39 you can bowl unlimited times all summer long right along with the kids!  **Note…Shoe rental is separate… and still not fashionable. Go HERE to see more details on the two Summer Bowling Programs.
  • FREE Reading Incentives ~ Now is the time to get a reading schedule set up for your kids so they can earn FREEbies come the end of August.
    • TD Bank will deposit $10 to your child’s bank account when they read 10 books and record their progress on the form. Available for Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
    • Barnes & Noble – Read any 8 books and record them in your journal.  Then turn it in to your local Barnes & Noble store for a FREE book!
    • Chuck E Cheese – Read every day for 2 weeks and get 10 tokens!
    • Scholastic, Sylvan and Pottery Barn – all have programs in which your children can earn prizes for reading over the summer!
    • Go HERE to see the entire list of places to earn FREE Stuff for Reading this summer.
  • Get Outside & Play ~ Don’t underestimate your local national park! They can offer canoe rentals, fishing peers and hiking trails. Even undiscovered swimming holes are here locally! There is a lot of cheap fun you can have in the great outdoors. Also, check with your credit card company because several of them have relationships with Museums that allow for FREE entrance.

Walgreens Updated Coupon Policy ~ Walgreens has recently released a new Coupon Policy making it a little harder to use your coupons there. Two things that customers (couponers) need to be aware of:

  • No Coupons Over The Sale Price ~ Officially it states: “Walgreens will not accept coupons that exceed the selling price of an item and no cash back is ever provided in exchange for any coupons.”  That means they will no longer adjust the coupon value down when it exceeds the value of the item.  They simply won’t accept the coupon. Previously we were able to purchase an item on sale for $.99,  use a $1 coupon and Walgreens would adjust the value down. With the new policy, they just flat out won’t accept it.
  • No Coupons on “Get One” ~ This one is confusing and it frustrates me. Ultimately, you cannot use a coupon on the “Get One” offer of a Buy One Get One sale. This is very frustrating because if you have a coupon for $1 off (2) items, you will need to purchase (4) items in order to use your coupon.. and typically, there are not that many on the shelf. We will see how this all shakes out in the weeks ahead. I think they will loosen the reigns a little as it goes along and people stop using coupons in their stores. Their Facebook page is overflowing with customer complaints, so we will just have to wait and see.

Basically, this Summer you and the kids can have fun AND not break the bank! Get out there and have some [FREE] fun!

~Happy Summertime Fun!
