Did you catch our Savings Segment this morning on Fox 13? We are honored to be a featured on Good Day Tampa Bay each Sunday to share our knowledge about coupons and how to get the most for your money! This week’s topic was all about how to ad match successfully at Walmart!
Here are five tips:
- Matching BOGO’s at the Walmart Price instead of the Competitor Ads ~ This is HUGE and an easy way to save without even using coupons, because Walmart usually has lower priced items when you ignore the grocery store sales.
PAY ATTENTION: You can only Price Match 2 BOGO Deals, so 4 Items total (but you can do several different items, so you can price match 4 laundry soaps and then 4 toothbrush deals with no problem, just no more than 4 of one item). - Even if you have to have a “preferred card” to get sale prices like you do at Winn Dixie or Walgreens, Walmart will match their ads too.
- They will NOT ad match any “Buy This to Get That Free” promotions, nor any Gift Card promotions (Target does gift card deals a lot and Publix will honor those, but Walmart will not).
- They only price match off of the Internet at Christmas time, so no Internet Price Matching off of Amazon for groceries or beauty items.
- Watch Sizes and Limits – Walmart does not have the extensive selection that the grocery stores have. That means you have to be super cautious when selecting an item on the shelf to be sure it matches the ad, and then matches the coupons properly. Don’t get stuck at the cash register over a couple of ounces!
Some important side-tips:
- Bring in the AD! I know they say that they don’t require them, but bringing it in anyway will make it easier on you and the cashier!
- Separate your Price Matching Items – put the NON price matching things on the conveyer belt first, then your Ad Match on the belt with the ad on top. That way you can easily point it out and allow the cashier to adjust the price.
- I’ve noticed that if I am saving 50% or more, then the cashier will call over a manager to verify things… no big deal, just smile and patiently wait. It’s all good!
Basically, you CAN be successful at this ad-matching-at-Walmart thing!
