Too often, the stories of service and sacrifice of our Veterans are never told and when they finally leave us, some faded photos, a few medals, and perhaps an old uniform are all that are left to remember what they did serving our country. Together We Served’s mission is to provide the opportunity for every family member to sit down with their Veteran and record their military service and memories, in their own words and photographs, so that their story may live on for their children, grandchildren, and future generations.
Each day 1,000 people who served in WW2, the Korean War & the Vietnam War pass away, taking their hard fought memories with them. The Veterans at Together We Served, are trying to preserve those memories and stories for the future generations. Launched in 2003 as a military heritage website they have already gathered almost 2 MILLION stories. Pretty cool. Oh and did I mention the whole thing is FREE! They have questionnaires to download and print to help start the conversation with their grandparents and you can even upload photos and videos and they have badges and ribbons that you can select so your loved ones will know what honors they earned.
My grandfather was a POW in WW2. He passed away my senior year in high school. I would’ve LOVED for my Dad to have recorded his story and had that webpage for my kids to look at and learn from. Right now all we have are a few copies of the newspaper clippings when his home town gave him a parade when he came home from war. Learn about and preserve your history by utilizing this FREE service.

You know washing a car for someone is truly an act of service… this is what my Dad wanted every year for Father’s Day and we happily did it to honor him. Well a company called Grace for Vets unites the car wash operator industry to provide a FREE CAR WASH to veterans & service personnel every year to honor their past & present service to their country. Last year they gave away 268,000 car washes on that day!
IDENTIFICATION IS NOT REQUIRED because they base the program on honor.

Back Yard Burgers:
Back Yard Burgers is giving back to those who serve our country in a big way. On Veteran’s Day (November 11) Back Yard Burgers is offering a free Back Yard Classic Burger (a third pound 100 percent Black Angus beef topped with garden-fresh lettuce, lush tomatoes, crunchy dill pickles, ketchup, mayo and mustard) to all active duty service members and veterans who show their military ID or are in uniform. In addition to serving Veterans free burgers on Veteran’s Day, Back Yard Burgers offers a 20 percent discount to service men and women year-round.
Bob Evan’s:
Bob Evans Restaurants are offering free select meals to Veterans and Active Duty Military on Veterans Day, Friday Nov. 11, 2016. In addition to the meal, Bob Evans will offer a 10% discount from November 12 – December 31 for both dine-in and carryout meals.
BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse:
BJ’s is honoring our Military Servicemen and women by giving each of them your choice of ANY FREE Entree under $12.95.
California Pizza Kitchen:
Get a FREE Entree for all Veterans and Active Military on Veteran’s Day! Dine in only and must show proof of service.
Chili’s Grill & Bar:
On Friday, Nov. 11, Chili’s salutes all veterans and active military personnel with a free entree. Dine in guests will have the option to choose from a special Veterans Day menu at any participating Chili’s restaurant nationwide. The special menu includes an Oldtimer with Cheese, Soup & Salad, Chicken Crispers and a Chipotle Chicken or Margherita Flatbread.
Chipotle:
Military members can stop by Chipotle with their U.S. military ID on Friday, November 11th, from 3pm-close and receive a BOGO (Buy One Get One) Burrito Bowl, Salad or order of Tacos as a small (foil-wrapped) token of thanks for their service.
Cracker Barrel:
This Veterans Day, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store will thank the men and women who have served our country by offering military veterans a complimentary slice of its Double Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola Cake.
Denny’s:
All active, inactive, and retired military personnel at all participating Denny’s restaurants nationwide will receive a free Build Your Own Grand Slam breakfast on Friday, Nov. 11, from 5 a.m. to noon. Diners must show ID to receive this offer.
Golden Corral:

On Monday, November 14th, 2016 from 5 PM to 9 PM, Golden Corral offers a free sit-in “thank you” dinner for Military veterans, retirees, and active duty members.
IHOP:
On Veteran’s Day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., participating IHOP Restaurants around the nation will be honoring the brave men and women who have served, or are serving, in the United States Military by offering them free Red, White and Blue pancakes.
Krispy Kreme:
Krispy Kreme will celebrate Veteran’s Day on Wednesday, November 11th by offering a Free Doughnut (any variety) and a Small Coffee to all Veterans at participating Krispy Kreme locations.
