  • Silver spray paint
  • Something to paint on (I used a plastic planter turned upside down in the middle of my backyard)

If you don’t have anything to spray paint your football trophy items on, I’m sure there are some things at the dollar store you could pick up to use like a planter or plastic bucket.

Step 1: Paint

First, paint the sides and bottom of the square vase and foam football that you can see with silver spray paint.

Next, once it’s initially dry (about 30 minutes) turn the items around to cover all sides with the silver spray paint.

Step 3: Glue The Football Trophy Together

After it’s completely dry (approx. 30 more minutes) use your hot glue gun to build a big blob of glue on the bottom of the vase.

Stick the football into the glue and be sure to position it at an angle.

**CAUTION** Do not squeeze the football.

It will still be possible to squeeze, but that could “crack” the surface of the paint, and then you’ll have to paint again with another coat.

Step 4: Prop & Dry

I used a fat highlighter to hold the football on an angle so that it did not fall while the glue was drying.

I was so amazed at how easy this was to make and my kids were excited for how nice it turned out!

So I hope you’ve learned how to make this easy and cheap football trophy so you can keep the majority of your money on the important things – FOOD!
