Motivate Your Kids To Read This Summer!

Are you looking for ways to keep your children’s minds active while on summer break?  Here are a few summer reading incentive programs to keep them motivated and reading!

American Girl:

Get Free Reading charts and printables HERE to encourage your little girl to read this summer! If you live near an American Girl store, check out the schedule HERE for summer bookmark making events.

Barnes & Noble:

Go HERE to download a FREE reading journal. Read any 8 books and record them in your journal.  Then turn it in to your local Barnes & Noble store for a FREE book!

Chuck E Cheese’s:  

Go HERE to print a FREE Rewards calendar from Chick E Cheese. Then read everyday for 2 weeks and receive Ten FREE tokens!
*Food purchase is required when redeemed.

Half-Priced Books (not in FL):

Kids aged 14 and under can earn “Bookworm Bucks” by reading at least 15 min a day in June and July. Just record your reading time on a simple log (download HERE), parents initial weekly and then turn it in at a local participating HPB store. They will in turn receive a $5 gift card for every 300 minutes read. A top prize of a $20 gift card will be given each month to the reader with the most minutes! Hillsborough County Public Library:

Read your way to the ballpark! The Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative has teamed up with the Rays to bring you Summer Reading fun! Beginning June 8 pick up a Game Card at any public library and start keeping track of how many hours you read this summer. As you read your way around the bases bring in your game Card to any library and receive prizes from the Rays. If you make it all the way to home plate you can receive a FREE ticket to a Rays game!

Pizza Hut Book-It:

Take the Summer Reading Challenge from June 1st to August 15th! Go HERE to register your child. Have your child read 5 books to be entered to win a special prize package.

Pottery Barn:

From May 16th to Aug 26th, Pottery Barn is offering a weekly story time and a summer reading challenge. Kids receive a prize after they finish reading all the books on the PB Summer Reading List (available In-store). Story Time is Free to attend. Go HERE to locate a store near you!

Sylvan Book Adventure: 

Have your child read books then take quizzes to earn points for prizes from Sylvan reading program! Click HERE for more information.

Scholastic: 

This is an excellent reading resource website. Plus, for logging reading time your kids can win a plethora of different prizes! Sign up your kids to log hours read over the summer. There are reading book lists and even a Reading Timer Mobile App for the kids to log their own reading time. Go HERE for tons of fun resources and to sign up.

Showcase Cinemas Bookworm

If you live near a Showcase Cinemas (theaters in MA, NJ, NY & RI) then you can attend a FREE Movie @ 10:00 am every on Wednesday from July 9 – Aug 13 just by bringing in a Book Report as your admittance! Download the Book Report form HERE.  Go HERE for locations. Go HERE to view a list of movies and times (compared to other theaters too).

TD Bank:

Go HERE to print a Summer Reading Form. Read 10 books and record your progress on the form. This program is valid June 1 – August 31 for children in Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Return to any TD Bank before August 31 , 2014 to earn a $10 deposit into your child’s TD Bank account!

Your Local Library:

Don’t forget to visit your local library to see if they are offering any summer reading incentives.  Visit often and let your kids borrow new books to have on hand for those rainy summer afternoons (or long car rides).
