So this is when my mind starting racing…how to come up with an best DIY glass cleaner that wouldn’t cost a lot and save my budget year after year.

Plus, I had to make sure this homemade glass cleaner with rubbing alcohol worked great on mirrors too without streaking.

And I needed the ingredients of this DIY vinegar glass cleaner to be simple so I could make a new bottle any time I wanted to.

Then, the light-bulb happened…creating a mixture of rubbing alcohol and vinegar would make the perfect ammonia free glass cleaner!

Raid your pantry and let’s make this ammonia free glass cleaner that you are going to love!

Ingredients & Supplies:

To make this ammonia free glass cleaner you might already have a lot of the ingredients on hand.

Here is what you need to make it:

• 3 Tablespoons Rubbing Alcohol
• 2 Cups Distilled Water or Reverse Osmosis Water
• 3 Tablespoons White Vinegar
• 10 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil (price varies) – I usually use Young Living essential oils, but I was fresh out of Peppermint when I took these photos, so I used a backup bottle my Sister In Law gave me from DoTerra.
• Glass spray bottle

A funnel will come in handy transferring the ingredients of your DIY vinegar glass cleaner to your spray bottle.

It is better to use a glass spray bottle for this homemade glass cleaner with rubbing alcohol. You can either purchase a large glass sprayer bottle like this or reuse your essential oil bottles and just buy just the sprayer for the bottle.

Or, you can use this nifty trick I found. If you use apple cider vinegar often, you may have an empty bottle in your recycling bin. The sprayer off an old glass cleaner bottle works great on this vinegar bottle! Just clean the bottle and remove the label. Yay for a cheap glass sprayer bottle!

Directions:

To make this best DIY glass cleaner, add all of the ingredients to a glass spray bottle.

Shake to combine.

Use this ammonia free glass cleaner on all your glass & mirrors in your home.

Total Cost

• 3 Tablespoons Rubbing Alcohol = 12¢
• 2 Cups Distilled Water or Reverse Osmosis Water = $0
• 3 Tablespoons White Vinegar = 33¢
• 10 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil (price varies)

Total Cost = 45¢ Per Bottle

Note: This does not cover the cost of bottles, sprayers or the essentials oils you purchased to make your best DIY glass cleaner.

Also, add 85¢ to your total if you do not have distilled water or reverse osmosis water on hand. That is about how much it costs to purchase a gallon of distilled water from Publix or another grocery store.

Even if you had to buy the essential oils and the bottles now, you can factor the cost of all of the ammonia free glass cleaner bottles you would normally buy each year, versus this one time cost. And just think about how much plastic you’ll be keeping out of the landfills too!
