Fishing Summer 2013Florida – The Fishing Capital of the World!

My guys love to fish! This photo is from our Summer Vacation when they caught lots of fish off a lake in MD. Tomorrow, September 1, (for Labor Day Weekend) you can get in all the Saltwater fishing your heart desires without the cost of a license. Florida residents are usually required to pay $17 for an annual fishing license and non-residents $47 (a non-resident 3-day license is $17).

FWC Executive Director Nick Wiley says “Florida’s license-free fishing days are an excellent opportunity to share the fun, excitement and togetherness of a fishing trip with the entire family. This also is a great time for experienced anglers to introduce friends to the sport, even if they don’t have a fishing license. By having these events on weekends, we hope Florida residents and visitors will experience the joy of saltwater and freshwater fishing. We expect many will discover a healthy sport they can enjoy for a lifetime.”

Click HERE for more info on Saltwater fishing from the FWC. I don’t know why they excluded Freshwater fishing…but this event is only for the Saltwater license. The saltwater waiver applies to any recreational harvest requiring a saltwater fishing license (e.g., crabbing, lobstering, scalloping, etc.) as well as fishing from shore or a boat.

And you know what follows a day of fishing…FISH FRY! So get out there and enjoy some family time on the water and around the dinner table!

~Happy Family Fun-In-The-Sun Day!
