You saw the hype…and you saw the victor…but aren’t you curious what we actually purchased?
Here is the background to what played out on TV: We have been busy here at the Kiefer house (who isn’t right?), so James has been doing the grocery shopping for the past few weeks. Well, he thinks he is an “expert” couponer now and has been talking some smack here at home, so we set up a little challenge, this week we would each pull separate shopping lists and separate coupons and just SEE who is the better couponer. Then at 11am on Friday morning, Tanya Arja from Channel 13 called to see if we were doing any Thanksgiving shopping? Ummm, well…we are actually doing an entirely different shopping trip this week!! So she excitedly asked to come along (WHAT?!!). The fervor here was uncanny!! We called Loretta and enlisted the help of the kids (yes, we had already picked teams), and quickly pulled our coupons in separate rooms, neither unveiling their strategy! About 1 hour later, we were ready to go…
After an additional hour of shopping, and a $50 budget, the results were in…I spent $52.90, James spent $54.93. But I had saved $119.26 and James had saved $126.83. WOW! Check out all that we purchased:
