My youngest is starting to READ!!! That is such a reassuring feeling that our homeschooling adventure is moving along (in the right direction)!

Today I felt it was time to introduce Beier to some well loved Nursery Rhymes! So we downloaded 24 mini-books, and we started reading one. He read all the words he recognized while I read all the other words…so it kinda went like this:

  • Beier: Jack and Jill went up the hill
  • Me: to fetch
  • Beier: a
  • Me: pail
  • Beier: of
  • Me: water.

Get the gist? He absolutely LOVED that we were taking turns reading…we read it over and over again.

And because the books are in bite-sized-chunks (they are one nursery rhyme per page), I already folded all of them, and put them in a little box so that he can go grab one at anytime. Once we were done reading the book, I had him color the front page so he could see at a glace which ones we had already read. Eventually, when we have read them all, he will have a nice little collection of nursery rhyme “books”!

Happy Memory Making (and, of course, learning)!
