TBT Article 2-27-13I keep forgetting to tell you all that we have a monthly column in the Tampa Bay Times! You will find it in today, Wednesday’s, 2/27 Tampa Bay Times Newspaper inside the Taste Section. Today’s topic is those easy Freebies. People outside the couponing community find it pretty hard to believe that FREE items are so easy to obtain. They think it is a random, rare occurrence. But we seasoned couponers know that it happens all the time!

Have you paid attention to those super EASY freebie coupons that have been coming out regularly in our coupon inserts? In January there were coupons for FREE Cat Treats and Protien Bars. The coupons have no strings attached, they just allow you to try their product for FREE. I know what you are thinking…well, I don’t have a cat, so that doesn’t help me, and I don’t like that protein bar. I have just one word: Donation. The SPCA would love your cat treats! And it is such a blessing to donate protein bars to a food pantry. That is way better than a can of corn.

My hubby James was so skeptical when I first started couponing…then he started to become a believer once he saw all the freebies coming in our house. One funny joke we have, is when I say that an item is FREE. He will say, wait a second, is it FREE or is it FREE-FREE?! If it is just FREE that means we only get one product. But if it is a FREE-FREE, we get TWO products for free. It happens all the time, but the variables have to be just right. It happens when the store is having a BOGO Sale, and when you also have a Manufacturer BOGO coupon. You buy two total products, use one BOGO coupon and pay only tax (if applicable).  In essence, the store is paying for one with the sale, and the Manufacturer is paying for one with the coupon! And you get to try two products entirely for FREE! It’s called a FREE-FREE 🙂

Each week it is so much fun to peruse down the weekly sales list and see what items are going to be FREE this week! Ahhh, to think I used to spend all that time looking through scrapbooking magazines instead! Lol!

Hey, want to help us out? Can you think of a topic we can approach in the newspaper? Email your questions to Save(at)TrueCouponing.com and we will answer them in the Tampa Bay Times next month!

Do you get the daily paper? I love my subscription. On Wednesdays…not only do I get a copy of the article to mail my Grandmother, but I get the upcoming Publix Weekly Ad. It’s only $26 for the whole year (for Hillsborough county)! Go HERE to check out rates for your area too!

Happy Reading!
