Fox 13 LogoDid you catch our Savings Segment this morning on Fox?  We are honored to be a featured on Good Day Tampa Bay each Sunday to share our knowledge about coupons and how to get the most for your money!  This week's topic was all about those how to best (and easily) use Rain Checks.

Here is a little more information for you (and the video):

  • What is a Rain Check? A Rain Check is just a slip of paper the store signs and gives you when they are out of stock of an item and the sale is going to end before you get a chance to purchase it.  In essence, it is a guarantee that you will be able to purchase that item at the sale price after the sale has ended!
  • Always Start Your Order with Your Rain Check – Your cashier will love you if you always put the items you are buying with a Rain Check on the conveyer belt first. It only takes a second, but the cashier needs to properly adjust the sale price and it is easiest for them to start your order with those specific items you are purchasing using the Rain Check.
  • Expiration Dates Play a Factor – Rain Checks typically expire 30 days from when they are issued. Usually the product is back in stock plenty of time before that. At the Drug Stores, Rain Checks do not expire! The Rain Check is guaranteeing the sale NOT the coupon. If the coupon expires before you get the product, then you will have to wait for that item to come up on sale again. (Don't worry, it will, in about 12 weeks! It always does!)
  • How Easy Are They Really? I used to dread Rain Checks, but now, I just go up to Customer Service BEFORE I check out and then keep them in with my coupons so that I bring it with me every week!

While couponing does not take a lot of time, you still have something invested because you cut coupons (or printed them) to purchase specific items, all when the item is not there, that can be disappointing! But all is not lost! Customer service has a solution, the Rain Check!

All this upcoming week at 5pm on FOX you can watch a few “Couponing Secrets” I revealed with Consumer Reporter Chris Chmura! Here is the Promo (and a secret I hope you already know…using competitor coupons!)
