It’s that time of year again!

Dust off your aprons, go grab a deal on flour and sugar (they’re on sale everywhere this time of year) and preheat the oven.

We’re going to bake some cookies!

Christmas Cookie Recipe Day 12:

I admit I am not a peppermint fan just as a stand-alone candy, but I do love peppermint crushed and added to sweet things!  What a cute and festive cookie this makes!!!

Peppermint Melt-A-Ways

Here’s what you will need to make these minty cookies:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened

Frosting:

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 to 3 drops red food coloring
  • crushed peppermint candy
  1. Cream butter, powdered sugar, peppermint extract, and food coloring.
  2. Add milk one tablespoon at a time. Drizzle over cookies and then sprinkle with crushed candy.

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl cream butter, sugar and extract.
  3. Add flour and cornstarch and mix well.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for 30 to 60 minutes.
  5. Shape into small balls and place on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
